Tired of cliched CLAT prep advice? Here is some more

It is 2017 and you might be thinking right now that you do not have enough time to prepare for CLAT. You may be thinking that all is lost and that you would have to try again next year. You cannot be more wrong. With the right advice, you will reach your destination. It will require a lot effort. But needless to say, it is not impossible. Nothing is.

There are a few things which you need to understand, but chances are that you already know about them:

Clichéd advice No. 1: Every person is different.

Clichéd advice No. 2: Don’t compare yourself to others. It only helps the person you are comparing yourself to.

Clichéd advice No. 3: Watch Dangal. No, seriously.

Clichéd advice No. 4: Don’t try to be perfect. You are not Aamir Khan. But you can certainly be a Salman Khan.

Clichéd advice No. 5: Your mock test score will improve gradually. It won’t happen in a day.

Clichéd advice No. 6: Stay abreast of all current facts. Read the newspaper everyday diligently. Including classifieds and matrimonials. You never know, CLAT is quite erratic. Those guys will throw random questions at you.

Clichéd advice No. 7: If you can’t solve a problem in a mock, don’t get obsessed. Move on to other questions and come back to the tough ones later.

Clichéd advice No. 8: If you are spending too much time on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, delete them. Do not deactivate or log out. Do not uninstall the app. Chances are that you will end up using them again. Delete the account.

Clichéd advice No. 9: If you are worried about procrastination, remember that it happens to everyone. I have been writing this piece for the past 7 days. Hopefully it’ll be done before Sherlock season 5.

Clichéd advice No. 10: Repeat advice No. 3.

All the vices mentioned above – like comparing yourself to others, getting obsessed over stuff, laziness, procrastination, spending the whole day on twitter etc only suit Kejriwal. You are better than that.

On a more serious note, there is no need to become serious. Being serious is very different from being sincere. And sincerity is exactly what you need to strive for. Like I said, you still have more than enough time. But you need to start working from today itself. Try to find out your problems. No teacher or counselor can help you with that. You know best what your problems are and what you are capable of. Parents, friends, teachers can only guide you. You just need to be disciplined. Start putting in more efforts. Gradually increase the amount of time you spend studying. Solve as many mocks as you can. But most importantly, stay confident and believe in yourself.

Clichéd advice No. 11: Eating curd and sugar before CLAT won’t get you through the exam. Preparing for it just might.

Happy New Year
